Thorough Knowledge
A High Performance rating is attained so that a pilot can act as PIC of an aircraft with at least one engine having more than 200 horsepower. At Abel Aviation, we recognize that means you as a pilot could train and attain your HP rating with a 210HP engine, and then the next day legally fly a 750HP turboprop.

We take the time to ensure you are familiar with all left-turning tendencies, greater power ratings, and how the aircraft will respond to such. Expect nothing but the most thorough training to make you feel confident as the Pilot in Command.
More Opportunities
As it sounds, the more endorsements you hold, the more aircraft become available for you to fly. Why limit yourself? Get your endorsements today!
Billable Tach Time
Our aircraft are billed using tachometer (tach) time, which measures engine operating time based on RPM, rather than clock (Hobbs) time.
To keep pricing fair and predictable, we apply a 1.3× multiplier to tach time. This adjustment accounts for higher engine wear during flight operations—such as taxi, takeoff, climb, and cruise at higher power settings—while avoiding charges for extended low-RPM ground time.
What this means for you:
You’re billed based on actual engine use, not just elapsed time.
Taxi delays and long ground operations at low RPM are not over-penalized.
Costs are more consistent and fair across different types of flights.
Example:
If a flight records 1.0 hour of tach time, billing will be 1.3 hours at the published hourly rate.
This method is widely used in flight training and aircraft rental and provides a balanced approach to operational costs and customer fairness.
